05.5.09 / Print From Your Blackberry

Monday, Research in Motion and Hewlett-Packard announced a partnership that will enable RIM Blackberry users to print documents, websites, and pictures from their mobile devices, reported Yahoo!.  CloudPrint, as it is being called, will give users the capability to print to any local printer made possible by cloud services.

This would be a great business tool and would give RIM’s Blackberry one up on Apple’s iPhone if they are able to make it happen before a developer creates an app that can do the same thing for the iPhone.

So far there is no time line on this project, or if it will be part of RIM’s software or an update.

In a statement made by Jim Balsillie, co-chief executive officer for RIM, “RIM and HP are working together to deliver solutions to customers that weave mobility into their daily operations – from innovative new services in the cloud to managed mobile services for the enterprise.”  So look for more exciting things to come from the RIM and HP partnership.
